Peerlist Platform Help

Helps the user launch projects, optimize profiles, and get the most from Peerlist — a professional network for tech builders with weekly project launches, portfolio profiles, and a 203,000+ user community.

Step 1 — Gather context

Ask the user:

  1. What do you need help with?

    • A) Launching a project on Peerlist Launchpad
    • B) Optimizing my Peerlist profile/portfolio
    • C) Understanding Peerlist for SEO/backlinks
    • D) Comparing Peerlist with other launch platforms
    • E) Advertising on Peerlist
    • F) Something else — describe it
  2. What's your product?

    • A) SaaS / software tool
    • B) Developer tool / open-source project
    • C) Design tool / creative product
    • D) Side project / portfolio piece
    • E) Something else
  3. What's your primary goal?

    • A) Early users and feedback from tech builders
    • B) SEO / backlinks
    • C) Professional credibility and networking
    • D) All of the above

If the user's request already provides most of this context, skip directly to the relevant step. Lead with your best-effort answer using reasonable assumptions (stated explicitly), then ask only the most critical 1-2 clarifying questions at the end.

Step 2 — Route or answer directly

If the request maps to a different skill, route:

  • Multi-directory launch strategy → /sales-launch-directory
  • Product Hunt launch → /sales-producthunt
  • Email marketing to subscribers → /sales-email-marketing
  • Landing page optimization → /sales-checkout
  • Audience growth strategy → /sales-audience-growth
  • Other specific directory platforms → route to that platform's skill

Otherwise, answer directly from the Peerlist reference below.

When Peerlist makes sense

Good fit:

  • You're building a dev tool, design tool, open-source project, or technical SaaS
  • You want feedback from a community of actual builders (developers, designers, PMs)
  • You want to build long-term professional credibility, not just a one-time launch
  • You want equal initial exposure (no buried listings — all projects featured)
  • You want a week-long launch window instead of a single 24-hour sprint

Not ideal:

  • You need dofollow backlinks for SEO — Peerlist backlinks are nofollow
  • You're launching a non-tech or consumer product — Peerlist's audience is tech builders
  • You need high-volume referral traffic from a single launch — traffic per launch is modest
  • You want a "set and forget" directory listing — Peerlist rewards sustained engagement (streaks)

Step 4 — Actionable guidance

For users launching on Launchpad

  1. Complete your profile first — minimum 70% completion required. Add GitHub, work history, projects
  2. Build a streak before launching — 14-day streak gives 2x vote value. Start engaging 2-3 weeks before your launch
  3. Prepare assets by Friday — name (45 chars), tagline (60 chars), logo (500×500), screenshots (1200×630), description (5,000 chars max), 3 categories, 10 tech tags
  4. Submit for Monday launch — all projects get featured with randomized initial ranking
  5. Add UTM tracking: ?utm_source=peerlist&utm_medium=directory&utm_campaign=launch
  6. Engage during launch week — respond to every comment, thank voters, share updates on Scroll
  7. Share on Scroll — cross-promote your launch in the Peerlist content feed
  8. Relaunch weekly — unlike most platforms, you can submit a new project every Monday

Note: Backlinks are nofollow (DR76) — Peerlist is primarily a community and visibility play, not an SEO backlink play. For dofollow backlinks, prioritize Uneed (DR74), Open Launch (DR65), or DevHunt (DR57-62).

For users optimizing their profile

  1. Connect integrations — GitHub (shows repos + contributions), Dribbble (design work), Medium/Hashnode (articles)
  2. Verify credentials — workplace (via work email), education, bootcamps
  3. Add projects — include case studies, screenshots, tech stack tags
  4. Set up custom domain — free feature, gives you yourname.peerlist.io or your own domain
  5. Write on Scroll — share work updates, ask for feedback, engage with others
  6. Build streaks — daily activity compounds into stronger vote value and profile visibility
  7. Collect peer endorsements — create a "vouch" list of peers who can endorse your work

For multi-directory launchers

Peerlist fits into Phase 1 — Instant listings since all projects get featured every Monday with no queue. The backlink is nofollow (DR76), so the value is community feedback and visibility, not SEO. Submit on Day 1 alongside other instant-listing platforms. The week-long launch window means you can time it with Monday and still engage other platforms during the same week.

Gotchas

Best-effort from research — review these, especially items about features and pricing that may be outdated.

  • Backlinks are nofollow. DR76 sounds high, but nofollow means search engines don't pass link equity. Peerlist is a community play, not an SEO play. For dofollow backlinks, use other directories.
  • Streak system creates a cold-start problem. Vote multipliers reward users with long streaks (14-day = 2x, 100-day = 3x). If you launch without a streak, your votes and your supporters' votes count less. Plan to build a streak 2-3 weeks before launching.
  • All projects featured means high competition. Unlike curated directories where only a few products launch per day, Peerlist features ALL submissions. Standing out requires strong assets and active community engagement.
  • Profile completion is gated. You need at least 70% profile completion to publish and be discoverable. This takes time — connect GitHub, add work history, verify credentials.
  • Tech-focused audience. If your product targets non-technical users, Peerlist's audience won't be the right fit. The community is developers, designers, and technical PMs.
  • Ads pricing is not public. The advertising platform exists but pricing isn't listed — you need to contact Peerlist directly.

Examples

Example 1: Launch a dev tool on Peerlist

User says: "I built a CLI tool and want to launch it on Peerlist Launchpad" Skill does:

  1. Checks profile completion — needs 70%+ with GitHub connected
  2. Recommends building a 14-day streak before launch for 2x vote multiplier
  3. Walks through asset prep: name, tagline, logo, screenshots, description, tech tags
  4. Explains Monday launch cycle with randomized initial ranking
  5. Suggests sharing on Scroll feed and engaging with comments all week Result: Product launched with streak advantage and strong community engagement plan

Example 2: Evaluate Peerlist for SEO

User says: "Is Peerlist worth it for SEO backlinks?" Skill does:

  1. Explains DR76 but nofollow — no SEO link equity passed
  2. Compares with dofollow alternatives: Uneed (DR74), Fazier (DR81), DevHunt (DR57-62)
  3. Notes Peerlist's value is community feedback and professional credibility, not SEO
  4. Recommends submitting for visibility but prioritizing dofollow directories for backlinks Result: Clear understanding that Peerlist is a community play, not an SEO play

Example 3: Peerlist vs other launch platforms

User says: "Should I launch on Peerlist or Product Hunt first?" Skill does:

  1. Peerlist: weekly cycle, all projects featured, lower stakes, tech builder audience
  2. Product Hunt: daily 24-hour window, curated, highest stakes, broadest audience
  3. Recommends Peerlist first to refine listing and get initial feedback
  4. Then Product Hunt with polished assets and testimonials from Peerlist launch Result: Sequenced launch plan using Peerlist as a practice run

Troubleshooting

Profile not reaching 70% completion

Symptom: Can't submit to Launchpad because profile is below the minimum threshold Cause: Profile completion requires multiple sections — work history, projects, integrations, bio, photo Solution: Connect GitHub (instant boost), add at least one verified work experience using your work email, add 2-3 projects with descriptions and tech tags, write a bio, and upload a professional photo. Connecting Dribbble, Medium, or Hashnode also helps if relevant.

Low votes despite good product

Symptom: Launched on Monday but received few votes compared to other projects Cause: Likely a streak disadvantage — users with 14-day or 100-day streaks have 2x or 3x vote multiplier. Your supporters may also lack streaks. Solution: Build your streak for at least 14 days before launching (daily activity on Scroll, voting, commenting). Encourage supporters to also build streaks. Share your launch on Scroll with a compelling post. Engage actively during the full launch week — don't just post and disappear.

Backlink not showing as dofollow in SEO tools

Symptom: Submitted to Peerlist but backlink shows as nofollow in Ahrefs/Moz Cause: Peerlist backlinks are nofollow by design. This is not a bug. Solution: Peerlist's value is community and visibility, not SEO link equity. For dofollow backlinks, submit to directories like Uneed (DR74 dofollow), Fazier (DR81 dofollow), Open Launch (DR65 dofollow), or DevHunt (DR57-62 dofollow). Use /sales-launch-directory to plan a multi-directory strategy that stacks both dofollow backlinks and community platforms.
