Product Hunt Copy Components
1. Tagline (< 60 characters)
- The single most important copy on your PH page
- Conversational, not corporate
- Format options:
- Benefit-first: "Close your books in 2 hours, not 2 days"
- Verb-first: "Turn Figma designs into production React code"
- Problem-first: "Stop losing leads because your CRM is a mess"
- Never use: "AI-powered", "next-generation", "revolutionary", "the future of"
2. Description (< 260 characters)
- Expand the tagline with one more sentence
- Answer: who is it for + what does it replace or compete with
- End with a soft CTA: "Try it free →" or "See how →"
3. First Comment (the Maker's intro post)
This is the most-read text on your PH page. Structure it as:
Para 1 — The Story (2–3 sentences) Why did you build this? Lead with a personal pain point or a "I couldn't believe this didn't exist" moment.
Para 2 — What It Does (3–4 sentences) Explain the product simply. Use a before/after structure. "Before [Product]: [painful workflow]. Now: [simple outcome]."
Para 3 — Who It's For (1–2 sentences) Name your ideal user specifically. Not "everyone" — be narrow.
Para 4 — What's Special About Today's Launch (1–2 sentences) Offer a launch-day deal, exclusive feature, or early-access perk.
Para 5 — The Ask (1 sentence) "Would love your feedback — what would make this a must-have for you?"
4. Gallery Image Captions (5 images)
- Image 1: Problem statement visual
- Image 2: Core product screenshot with benefit caption
- Image 3: How it works (3-step flow)
- Image 4: Key feature highlight
- Image 5: Social proof or testimonial
5. Topics (max 3)
Select the 3 most relevant PH topics. Popular ones: Productivity, Developer Tools, SaaS, Artificial Intelligence, No-Code, Design Tools, Marketing, Analytics, Sales, Startup Tools
