Why Kick Clip Downloader
Kick delivers video through adaptive HLS streams, which means there is no download button or simple file link on clip, VOD, or recording pages. When a streamer's content is removed or a VOD expires, that footage is gone unless you captured it beforehand. Screen recording is an option, but it ties up your machine in real time and often produces oversized files with inconsistent quality.
Kick Clip Downloader is being designed to intercept the actual video stream data that the browser already receives during playback. Instead of re-encoding a screen capture, the extension will extract the source segments and assemble them into a clean MP4 file at the original broadcast quality. The entire process happens inside the browser tab, so there is nothing extra to install or configure on your system.
Planned Features
- One-click clip downloading from any Kick clip page
- Full VOD and stream recording export at original quality
- Automatic detection of video sources when visiting Kick content pages
- Resolution selection when multiple quality levels are available from the stream
- Batch downloading support for saving multiple clips from a single channel
- Filename formatting using streamer name, date, and clip title
- Progress indicator showing download status and estimated completion
- Cross-browser compatibility targeting Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Firefox
How It Will Work
- Install the extension from your browser's extension store once it is released.
- Navigate to any Kick channel, clip page, or VOD archive in your browser.
- The extension icon will indicate when downloadable video content is detected.
- Click the extension popup to view available video sources on the current page.
- Select the clip, VOD, or recording segment you want to save.
- Choose your preferred resolution if the stream offers multiple quality options.
- Click download and the extension will process the video segments into a single file.
- The finished MP4 will be saved to your default downloads folder.
Expected Formats

- Output: MP4 container with H.264 video and AAC audio
Exported files will be standard MP4s that play in any modern media player, video editor, or mobile device without conversion.

FAQ
When will Kick Clip Downloader be released? A release date has not been set. Sign up at the waitlist link above to be notified as soon as it is available.
Does it work with live streams in real time? The extension is focused on clips, VODs, and completed recordings. Capturing a live stream in real time while it is still broadcasting is not part of the initial feature set.
What video quality will downloads be? Downloads will match the quality that Kick delivers to your browser. If a clip or VOD is available at 1080p on the platform, you will be able to download it at that resolution.
Will it download the chat replay along with the video? Chat replay export is not planned for the initial release, though it may be considered as a future addition based on user feedback.
Is it free? Pricing details will be announced closer to launch. SERP extensions typically include a free trial period.
Can I download VODs that are several hours long? Long-form VOD support is a planned feature. Download time and file size will depend on the length and resolution of the recording.

About Kick
Kick is a live streaming platform that competes with Twitch, offering creators a space to broadcast gaming, IRL, and creative content to live audiences. The platform features clips, VODs, and channel recordings, but does not provide a native download option for viewers who want to save video content locally. Kick Clip Downloader is being built to fill that gap, giving users a browser-based tool to export Kick video as standard MP4 files they can keep on their own machines.
