Dropship Supplier Negotiation Scripts

What This Skill Does

This skill turns your AI into an expert dropshipping supplier negotiator. It writes real, battle-tested scripts for every stage of the supplier relationship: cold outreach, price negotiation, MOQ reduction, exclusive deals, sample requests, quality complaints, and reorder terms.

Stop leaving money on the table with generic emails. Every word matters when negotiating with a Chinese supplier. This skill knows exactly what to say.

When To Use This Skill

  • You found a winning product and need to approach the manufacturer directly
  • You want to negotiate a lower unit price from your current AliExpress/CJ supplier
  • You need to reduce MOQ requirements for testing
  • You want to lock in exclusive deals so competitors cannot copy your supply chain
  • A shipment arrived with quality issues and you need compensation
  • You are scaling and want better payment terms or faster processing

The Core Negotiation Framework

The 3P Principle: Position, Proof, Path Forward

Every supplier negotiation email must contain all three:

Position - What you want and why you deserve it (volume potential, long-term relationship, existing sales data)

Proof - Evidence you are serious (sales screenshots, store stats, current order history, competitor quotes)

Path Forward - A clear ask with a specific number, a deadline, and an easy yes (do not make them guess what you want)

The Supplier Mindset

Chinese suppliers think in volume and certainty. They will give you better prices if:

  • You can show current sales velocity (even 5-10 orders/day gets attention)
  • You signal you are building long-term, not just testing
  • You give them a specific volume commitment
  • You make the negotiation feel easy and professional

They will NOT respond well to:

  • Vague promises like "I might order a lot"
  • Demanding tone without leverage
  • Asking for too many concessions at once

Script Templates

Script 1: Cold Outreach to AliExpress/1688 Supplier

Use when: You found a product and want to contact the manufacturer directly to get wholesale pricing.

Subject: Wholesale Inquiry - [Product Name] - [Country] Store

Hi [Supplier Name],

My name is [Your Name] and I run an e-commerce store in [Country] selling [product category]. I have been researching suppliers for [specific product] and your product looks like a strong match.

I am currently selling [X units/week]. If quality and pricing work, I expect to scale to [X units/month] within 60 days.

I would like to discuss:
- Your best wholesale price for [X] units/month
- Whether you offer white-label / custom packaging
- Your standard processing time and shipping options to [Country]

Can you send me your price list and MOQ? I am ready to move quickly once we agree on terms.

Best,
[Your Name]

AI Prompt to customize:

"Using the dropship supplier cold outreach template, write me an email for a supplier selling [product name] on AliExpress. My store is in [country], I currently sell [X orders/week], and I want to ask about pricing, white label, and shipping time."

Script 2: Price Negotiation (You Already Have a Supplier)

Use when: You are already ordering from this supplier but want a lower unit price after proving sales volume.

Subject: Price Review Request - Order History Attached

Hi [Supplier Name],

I have been ordering [product name] from you for [X months]. Over this time, I have placed [X orders totaling $X]. Thank you for the consistent quality and service.

I am now scaling my marketing and expect volume to increase significantly over the next 30-60 days. I would like to discuss a revised pricing structure.

My current unit price is $[X]. I would like to request $[Y] per unit for orders of [Z+ units/month].

In return, I am happy to:
- Commit to a minimum monthly volume of [X units]
- Pay upfront to reduce your risk
- Give you first right of refusal on new products I source

Looking forward to your reply.
[Your Name]

AI Prompt to customize:

"Write a supplier price negotiation email. I have been buying [product] for [X months], order [X units/month], current price is $[X]. Want $[Y]. Will commit to [volume]/month. Use the 3P framework."

Script 3: MOQ Reduction Request

Use when: A supplier has a minimum order quantity too high for your testing phase.

Subject: MOQ Discussion - Test Order Request

Hi [Supplier],

I came across your [product name] and I am very interested in testing it for my store.

I understand your MOQ is [X units]. For a first order, I would like to request a test batch of [Y units] to validate the product with my customer base.

I move fast when something works. My last winning product went from 10 test units to 200+/month within 6 weeks. I want a reliable long-term supplier, not a one-time deal.

If you can accept [Y units] for this first order at [price point], I will prioritize you for scale orders once I validate demand.

Is this something you can work with?

[Your Name]

AI Prompt to customize:

"Write an MOQ negotiation email to a supplier. Their MOQ is [X units] but I only want to test with [Y units]. I want to show that I am serious and can scale fast. Product: [product name]. Country: [yours]."

Script 4: Exclusive Deal Request

Use when: Your product is winning and you want to lock out competitors with an exclusive supply agreement.

Subject: Exclusive Partnership Proposal - [Product Name]

Hi [Supplier],

We have been working together for [X months] and our volume has grown from [X] to [Y] units/month.

I would like to propose an exclusive arrangement:

We commit to [X units/month] for the next [6/12] months. In exchange, you agree not to fulfill orders for this product to any other stores in [Country] during that period.

This protects your volume commitment from us, and protects our marketing investment.

I am happy to formalize this with a simple written agreement.

Can we discuss terms?

[Your Name]

AI Prompt to customize:

"Write an exclusive supplier deal email. Been ordering [product] for [X months], volume is now [Y units/month]. Want exclusivity in [country] for 6 months in exchange for [X units/month] commitment."

Script 5: Sample Request (New Supplier)

Use when: You want to order product samples before committing to bulk orders.

Subject: Sample Order Request - [Product Name]

Hi,

I am evaluating [product name] for my e-commerce store in [Country]. I would like [1-3] samples to check quality before placing a larger order.

Please confirm:
- Sample price per unit (or if samples are free)
- Shipping cost to [country]
- Estimated delivery time
- Whether sample cost is credited toward first bulk order

I am evaluating 2-3 suppliers and plan to decide within 1-2 weeks.

[Your Name]

AI Prompt to customize:

"Write a sample request email to an AliExpress or Alibaba supplier for [product name]. I want [X] samples shipped to [country]. Ask about sample cost, shipping, timeline, and whether cost is credited toward bulk orders."

Script 6: Quality Complaint + Compensation Request

Use when: You received a shipment with quality issues.

Subject: Quality Issue - Order #[Order Number] - Compensation Required

Hi [Supplier],

I received order #[Order Number] on [Date]. Unfortunately, [X out of Y units] have quality issues: [describe the issue clearly].

I have attached photos for your reference.

This has resulted in [customer refunds / negative reviews / lost sales]. I need this resolved to continue our relationship.

I am requesting one of the following:
Option A: Replacement of [X] defective units at no cost
Option B: Refund of $[X] (proportional to the defective rate)
Option C: Credit toward my next order of equal value

Please let me know which option you can accommodate.

[Your Name]

AI Prompt to customize:

"Write a supplier quality complaint email. Order number: [X]. I received [product] and [describe issue]. Want replacements, refund, or credit. Use firm but professional tone. Give them three resolution options."

Script 7: Reorder with Better Terms

Use when: You are placing a significant reorder and want to negotiate better terms.

Subject: Reorder Ready - Let us Discuss Terms

Hi [Supplier],

Ready to place my next order for [product name], approximately [X units].

Before I confirm, I would like to revisit a few things:

1. Pricing: Can we do $[X] per unit given this volume? (Last price was $[Y])
2. Processing time: Last order took [X days]. Can we get it to [Y days]?
3. Payment: Can we switch to [preferred method]?

I can send payment today if we align on terms.

[Your Name]

AI Prompt to customize:

"Write a reorder negotiation email. I am ready to order [X units] of [product]. Want price down from $[current] to $[target], processing under [X days], and payment method [method]."

Full Workflow: From Cold Supplier to Exclusive Partner

Stage 1: Discovery -> Script 5 (Sample Request) or Script 1 (Cold Outreach) Stage 2: First Order -> Build relationship, no negotiation yet Stage 3: Proven Sales (10+ orders/day) -> Script 2 (Price Negotiation) Stage 4: Winning Product -> Script 4 (Exclusive Deal) Stage 5: Any Quality Issue -> Script 6 (Complaint) Stage 6: Every Reorder -> Script 7 (Better Terms)

Power Tactics Every Dropshipper Should Know

The Competitor Quote Tactic Mention that you have received quotes from other suppliers. "I have quotes from two other suppliers at $X. I prefer working with you, but I need you to match this."

The Volume Escalation Promise Always frame current volume as the floor, not the ceiling. "I am at 30 orders/day now. I expect to scale to 100+/day within 60 days." Suppliers give better prices when they see upside.

The Long-Term Framing Emphasize you want a long-term partner, not a one-off vendor. This shifts the dynamic from transactional to relational. Suppliers price differently for repeat customers.

The Easy Yes Close Do not make them think. Give a specific number and ask yes/no. "Can you do $8.50/unit for 500 units/month?" beats "What is your best price?" every time.

Payment Upfront Leverage Offering to pay upfront extracts 5-15% price reductions from smaller suppliers who need cash flow certainty.

Example Output

Prompt: "Using the dropship supplier price negotiation script, write me an email. I have been buying a posture corrector from a supplier on AliExpress for 4 months. I order about 80 units/month. Current price is $12/unit. I want to get to $9.50. I will commit to 100 units/month minimum."

Output:

Subject: Price Review Request - Posture Corrector Orders

Hi [Supplier Team],

We have been working together for 4 months on the posture corrector, and I appreciate the consistent quality and shipping times. Over this period I have ordered approximately 320 units total.

I am scaling my ad spend significantly over the next 30 days, which should push volume from 80 to 100+ units/month. To support this growth, I would like to request $9.50/unit for orders of 100+ units/month. I am happy to commit to 100 units/month minimum going forward.

If you can meet this, I can place a 100-unit order today. Let me know.
