Facebook & Instagram Cold Traffic Ad Copy for Dropshippers — Dan Kennedy-inspired formulas adapted for ecom impulse buyers.

What This Skill Does

This skill generates Facebook and Instagram ad copy for dropshippers targeting cold audiences. It uses direct-response copywriting frameworks — specifically Dan Kennedy's "Magnetic Marketing" principles — adapted for ecom scroll behavior, mobile-first reading, and impulse purchase psychology.

Who it's for:

  • Dropshippers running Facebook/Instagram paid ads
  • Ecom store owners writing their own ad copy
  • Media buyers who need fresh copy angles fast
  • Agencies managing dropship client accounts

Why Most Dropship Facebook Ads Fail

The typical dropship ad reads like this:

"✅ 50% OFF TODAY ONLY! 🔥 Get our Amazing Posture Corrector NOW! FREE SHIPPING! Limited Stock! ORDER NOW!!!"

This copy is dead. Facebook users have been conditioned to scroll past it in 0.2 seconds. Here's why it fails:

  1. No specificity — "Amazing" and "Limited Stock" are meaningless. Everyone says this.
  2. No story — It's a billboard, not a conversation.
  3. Leads with discount — Trains customers to wait for sales, attracts bargain hunters with high return rates.
  4. No emotional hook — Speaks to no one's actual pain.

Dan Kennedy's core insight: People don't buy products. They buy solutions to problems they desperately want solved. Your ad's job is to identify the problem so precisely that the reader thinks "how did they know that about me?"

The Kennedy-Adapted Ecom Framework

Step 1: The Magnetic Headline

Kennedy's rules for direct response headlines, adapted for Facebook:

Formula Structure Example
Who Else Wants "Who else wants [desirable result]?" "Who else wants to sleep through the night without back pain?"
The Secret Of "The secret of [people they admire]" "The secret of people who never feel bloated after meals"
Here Is A Method "Here is a [fast/easy/proven] way to [result]" "Here's a simple way to fix your posture — without a chiropractor"
Warning "Warning: [counterintuitive risk]" "Warning: Your phone is slowly ruining your posture (here's the fix)"
How [Blank] Made [Result] "How [someone like them] got [result]" "How a WFH mom with 3 kids finally fixed her chronic neck pain"
The Reason Why "The reason why [common thing] doesn't work — and what does" "The reason why stretching alone won't fix your back pain"

Step 2: The Scroll-Stopping First Line

This is your real hook — the line that appears BEFORE "See more." It must make the reader feel:

  • Understood ("That's exactly my problem")
  • Curious ("Wait, what?")
  • Or called out ("How do they know this about me?")

Formula: Empathy statement + specific detail

"If you spend more than 4 hours a day at a desk, your posture is probably already worse than you think."

"Most portable blenders I tried were useless for thick protein shakes. Then I found this one."

"Nobody tells you that LED lights from big box stores use cheap drivers that flicker — and that flickering is why you get headaches."

Step 3: Problem Agitation

After the hook, make the problem feel bigger. Not fake-bigger — true-bigger. Use specifics.

  • Don't: "Back pain is really bad"
  • Do: "By 35, most office workers have measurably reduced disc spacing. Sitting 8 hours a day compresses your spine the same way carrying a 20-pound backpack does — except you do it every single day."

Step 4: The Solution Bridge

Transition from problem to product WITHOUT making it feel like a commercial.

Bridge phrases:

  • "That's why I started looking for something different."
  • "That's the reason [X] people have switched to..."
  • "The breakthrough was finding a [category] that actually works because [mechanism]."

Step 5: Social Proof Integration

Cold traffic doesn't trust you. Borrow trust from:

  • Review counts ("4,200+ verified reviews")
  • Specific review quotes ("One customer wrote: 'I wore this for 3 days and my coworker asked if I'd been to the chiropractor'")
  • Authority ("Recommended by physical therapists")
  • Momentum ("23,000 units sold this month")

Step 6: Scarcity / Urgency (Use Honestly)

Real scarcity: "We ordered 500 units for this promotion. 340 sold in 48 hours." Real urgency: "This price expires Sunday — we go back to full price then."

Don't fake it. Today's buyers can smell fake scarcity.

Step 7: The CTA

One action. Clear. Low friction.

  • "Click below to check availability"
  • "See if it's still in stock →"
  • "Try it risk-free for 30 days →"

How to Use This Skill

Step 1: Give your AI agent this prompt:

Use the facebook-dropship-ads skill.

Product: [product name]
Core benefit: [main problem it solves]
Target customer: [describe specifically — age, situation, pain]
Price: [your price]
Social proof available: [reviews, ratings, units sold]
Offer: [guarantee, free shipping, discount, bundle]
Ad format needed: [short / medium / long / all three]

Generate Facebook/Instagram ad copy using the Kennedy-adapted framework.
Include headline + body for each format.

Template Library

FORMAT 1: Short Ad (Awareness — 3-5 sentences)

Best for: Cold audience top-of-funnel, retargeting reminder, Instagram feed

[MAGNETIC HEADLINE]

[SCROLL-STOPPER — 1 sentence that names the exact pain]

[PRODUCT INTRO — 1 sentence on what it does]

[SOCIAL PROOF — 1 sentence]

[CTA]

Example — Posture Corrector:

Warning: 8 hours at a desk is doing more damage to your spine than you realize.

If you end every workday with upper back tightness or that grinding neck feeling — you're not
imagining it, and stretching alone won't fix it.

ComfortBack is a posture corrector worn under your shirt that retrains your muscles to sit
correctly — most people notice a difference within 72 hours.

4.7 stars, 3,800+ reviews.

FORMAT 2: Medium Ad (Consideration — 100-150 words)

Best for: Facebook Feed, people who've seen your brand once, interest-targeted cold traffic

[MAGNETIC HEADLINE]

[EMPATHY + SPECIFIC PAIN — 2-3 sentences]

[AGITATE — 1-2 sentences that make the problem feel urgent]

[SOLUTION BRIDGE — 1 sentence]

[PRODUCT DESCRIPTION — 2-3 sentences including mechanism]

[SOCIAL PROOF — specific number or review quote]

[OFFER + CTA — 2 sentences]

Example — Portable Blender:

Here's a simple way to make a perfect protein shake anywhere — in 30 seconds.

If you've ever had a clumpy shake because your old blender couldn't handle frozen fruit and
protein powder, you know how annoying it gets. You either compromise on nutrition or lug
around a giant appliance.

That's why 6,000 people this month switched to the ChargeMix portable blender.

It fits in a cup holder, charges via USB, and blends thick shakes in one 30-second cycle.
No cords, no mess, no excuses.

"I canceled my gym's smoothie bar membership after getting this" — verified buyer.

FORMAT 3: Long Ad (Conversion — 250-350 words)

Best for: Warm retargeting, Facebook right column, people who visited your store, email audiences

[MAGNETIC HEADLINE]

[STORY OPEN — relatability, name a real scenario]

[PROBLEM DEEP DIVE — give specifics, make it feel true]

[FALSE SOLUTIONS — name 2 things they've probably tried that failed]

[DISCOVERY MOMENT — how you/they found the product]

[PRODUCT EXPLANATION — what it is, how it works, why the mechanism is different]

[PROOF STACK — reviews + units sold + guarantee]

[OBJECTION HANDLING — price, skepticism]

[FINAL CTA with urgency]

Example — LED Strip Lights:

How a boring bedroom became the chill setup everyone asks about — for under $30.

My room looked like every other white-wall, IKEA-lamp apartment. I'd come home from work
and there was zero vibe. Just... flat light and a to-do list.

I tried those battery-powered LED strips from the dollar store. They lasted two weeks and
the remote stopped working. Then I tried "smart bulbs" — $20 each, required a hub, took
an hour to set up.

Then a friend showed me her setup with DreamGlow LED strips and I asked her about it for
20 minutes straight.

DreamGlow uses high-density LEDs with a real controller chip — that's why the colors are
vivid instead of washed out, and why the music sync actually works (it reacts in
milliseconds, not seconds). Setup takes 10 minutes: peel and stick, plug in, sync to the
app.

The 5-meter pack covers most rooms. The kit includes corners, remote, and the app gives
you 16 million color options including scenes like "Sunset" and "Ocean."

180,000+ sold. 4.6 stars from 11,000 reviews. One person wrote: "I literally look forward
to coming home now. My room feels like a completely different place."

It's $28. Which is less than two fancy coffees. If you don't love it in 30 days, you get
your money back — no questions.

The 5-meter kit keeps selling out (they restock every Tuesday). Check availability below:

Fill-in-the-Blank Master Template (Any Product)

[HEADLINE FORMULA: "Warning:" / "Who else wants" / "Here is a method" / "How [person] got [result]"]

Most people who deal with [pain/problem] have tried [common failed solution 1] and [common
failed solution 2]. Neither works long-term because [real reason].

The truth is: [insight that reframes the problem — something most people don't know].

[Product Name] works differently. It [mechanism/what makes it unique] which means [benefit
the customer actually cares about].

[Specific proof: X reviews / X units sold / quote from customer]

[Risk reversal: guarantee / free shipping / trial offer]

[CTA: one clear action → link]

Ad Copy Don'ts (Specific to Dropshipping)

  • ❌ Don't mention AliExpress, CJ, or your supplier — ever
  • ❌ Don't use "dropshipping" language in the ad
  • ❌ Don't say "our store" — say "we" or the brand name
  • ❌ Don't stack emoji (1-2 max per ad, none in the headline)
  • ❌ Don't use ALL CAPS except for the most critical word
  • ❌ Don't make claims you can't back up ("clinically proven" without citations)
