The 12-Part VSL Framework
Part 1: The HOOK (0â30 seconds)
The first thing your viewer sees/hears. Must stop the scroll and create a "I need to watch this" reaction.
Formula options:
- Bold Claim: "I'm going to show you how [target customer] makes [result] in [timeframe] without [objection]"
- Curiosity Gap: "In the next [X] minutes, I'm going to reveal the single reason why [problem] â and how to fix it permanently"
- Counterintuitive: "Stop [common advice] â if you want [desired result], here's what actually works"
- Story tease: "Six months ago I was [bad situation]. Today I [amazing result]. And the weird thing that changed everything was..."
Prompt:
Write 5 VSL hook variations for [PRODUCT]. The customer's #1 desire is [DESIRE]. Their biggest fear is [FEAR]. Make each hook under 40 words and force them to keep watching.
Part 2: CALL OUT the Avatar (30â60 seconds)
Name exactly who this is for. The right person should feel seen. The wrong person should self-select out.
Formula:
"If you're a [specific identity] who [specific situation] and you want [specific outcome] but you're sick of [specific frustration]... then this is the most important video you'll ever watch."
Template:
"This is specifically for [TYPE OF PERSON] who [CURRENT SITUATION]. If you've ever [TRIED AND FAILED], if you're tired of [FRUSTRATION], if you know there has to be a better way to [GOAL]... stay with me. What I'm about to share changes everything."
Part 3: BIG PROMISE (60â90 seconds)
State the transformation. Be specific. Not "lose weight" â "drop 2 dress sizes in 60 days without cutting carbs."
Formula: "[TIMEFRAME] from now, you could [SPECIFIC RESULT] even if [BIGGEST OBJECTION]"
Examples:
- "30 days from now you could be making $3,000/month from your phone â even if you've never sold anything online before"
- "In the next 8 weeks, your skin could be clear â even if you've tried every cream on the market"
- "This time next month you could have a fully stocked Shopify store making sales while you sleep â even if you have zero tech experience"
Part 4: CREDIBILITY (90 seconds â 3 minutes)
Why should they listen to you? This is NOT a resume â it's a "I was where you are" story with proof of transformation.
Structure:
- Where you were (relatable struggle)
- The moment everything changed (discovery)
- Where you are now (proof of transformation)
- Who you've helped (social proof)
Template:
"Not long ago, I was [RELATABLE STRUGGLE]. I tried [FAILED ATTEMPT 1], [FAILED ATTEMPT 2], [FAILED ATTEMPT 3]. Nothing worked. Then I discovered [MECHANISM]. In [TIMEFRAME], I went from [BAD SITUATION] to [RESULT]. Since then, I've helped [NUMBER] [TYPE OF PEOPLE] achieve [RESULT]. Part 5: THE PROBLEM (3â5 minutes)
Agitate the pain. Go deeper than the surface problem â find the emotional wound underneath.
3-Layer Problem Framework:
- Surface problem: "I can't make sales on my store"
- Real problem: "I'm wasting money on ads that don't work"
- Emotional wound: "I feel like a failure and I'm scared my family will find out I'm struggling"
Agitation prompts:
Describe the problem in 3 layers for a [TYPE OF CUSTOMER] who wants [GOAL]. Surface frustration â deeper problem â emotional root. Make them feel like you're reading their mind.
Part 6: THE MECHANISM / BIG IDEA (5â8 minutes)
This is the secret sauce â the unique "thing" that makes your solution different from everything else they've tried. Give it a name. Make it feel proprietary.
Formula: "The [NAME] Method/System/Framework"
Examples:
- "The 3-Second Scroll Stop Formula" (for ads)
- "The Cold-to-Sold Bridge" (for email sequences)
- "The $100/day Product Research Protocol" (for dropshipping)
How to explain the mechanism:
- Why everything else fails (the gap)
- What the mechanism is (the bridge)
- Why it works (the logic)
- Simple proof it works (the demo or story)
Template:
"The reason [COMMON SOLUTION] doesn't work is because it ignores [HIDDEN FACTOR]. Most people think the problem is [SURFACE ISSUE]. But the real issue is [DEEPER TRUTH]. That's why I created [MECHANISM NAME]. It works by [SIMPLE EXPLANATION]. Instead of [OLD WAY], you [NEW WAY]. And the result is [OUTCOME]."
Part 7: SOCIAL PROOF (8â10 minutes)
Case studies and testimonials. Specificity = believability.
Weak proof: "John made $10,000 last month!"
Strong proof: "John from Dallas was a 43-year-old accountant running his first Shopify store. After using the 3-step product research method in Week 1, he found a winning product and ran his first Facebook ad with $50. By Day 14 he had made $847. By the end of Month 1 he crossed $4,200 in revenue â that's his first ever month selling online."
Prompt for generating proof stories:
Write 3 VSL-style testimonial stories for [PRODUCT]. Each person should be a different demographic. Include: who they were before, what they tried that didn't work, what happened when they used [PRODUCT], and a specific result with numbers and timeframe. Each story 80â120 words.
Part 8: THE OFFER (10â15 minutes)
Stack the value. Present everything they're getting â not just the main product.
Value Stack Structure:

Part 9: PRICE REVEAL + PRICE JUSTIFICATION (15â16 minutes)
Don't just say the price. Justify it, shrink it, and compare it.
3-step price reveal:
- Anchor high ("If you hired someone to do all this for you, you'd pay $3,000â$5,000...")
- Reveal actual price
- Shrink it ("That's less than your Netflix subscription per day")
Template:
"Now, you might be thinking â what's all this going to cost? If you tried to piece all this together yourself, buying [COMPONENT 1] for $[X], hiring [COMPONENT 2] for $[X], and spending [TIME] to figure it out... you'd easily spend $[HIGH ANCHOR]. Part 10: GUARANTEE (16â17 minutes)
Remove all risk. The stronger the guarantee, the higher the conversion.
Guarantee types:
- Money-back: "30-day no questions asked"
- Results guarantee: "If you don't [RESULT] in [TIMEFRAME], I'll refund every penny AND let you keep everything"
- Double guarantee: "Not only will I refund you, I'll also [EXTRA THING]"

Part 11: URGENCY + SCARCITY (17â18 minutes)
Give them a real reason to act NOW.
Real urgency tactics:
- Price increases at midnight / after launch period
- Bonus expires at [DATE]
- Limited spots/units
- Founding member pricing (only for the first X people)
Template:
"But I have to be honest with you â this price will NOT last. On [DATE/EVENT], the price goes up to $[HIGHER PRICE]. The [BONUS NAME] is only available for the next [TIMEFRAME] because [REAL REASON]. Once it's gone, it's gone. So you have a decision to make right now..."
Part 12: THE CLOSE + CTA (18â20 minutes)
Paint two futures. Make the decision easy.
Two-path close formula:

OR [PATH 2: Take action] â you click the button below, get instant access, and [TRANSFORMATION]. Which one sounds better to you? Hard CTA:
