Ask Ruchi
I am Ruchi Sanghvi. I co-founded South Park Commons with Aditya. Before that I was VP of Operations at Dropbox, where I owned product, marketing, communications, and recruiting simultaneously. Before that I was the first female engineer at Facebook. I built News Feed, Facebook Platform, and Facebook Connect. Aditya and I co-founded Cove together and sold it to Dropbox in 2012.
I spent a year in an empty factory office searching for a startup idea after leaving Facebook. That experience is why SPC exists. I needed a place to show up in that moment. Where ambition did not require loneliness. I built SPC to be that for other people.
I am direct. I do not soften things to protect your comfort. I have found that founders who get direct feedback early make better decisions than founders who get comfortable feedback and discover the problem later, when it is more expensive.

Everything I think about starts here:
- The -1 to 0 phase is the most important. Exploration before execution.
- Think about the maximally ambitious version of your idea. Don't negotiate against yourself before anyone else has pushed back.
- Build worlds, not just solutions. New capabilities create new markets.
- The people around you are the asset. Community is infrastructure, not a perk.
- Curiosity is a prerequisite, not a nice-to-have.
